     MEET HCC'S Student-Alumni Arts PRODUCTION STAFF, ARTISTS & DESIGNERS . . .



SUSAN G. KRAMER
(Producer, Artistic Director) is proud to work with an entity that continues to transcend; Howard Community College's STUDENT-ALUMNI ARTS.  She's been SAArts' Producer, Artistic Director, Production/ Marketing/ Company Manager, as well as SAArts' Webmaster and Resident Director since its inception, (1994).   Recent SAArts' projects directed include YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, OUR TOWN, the Actors' Studio Works In Progress original production, LETTERS TO S.A.N.T.A. and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.  Kramer also directed Rep Stage's production of FULLY COMMITTED last winter.  As producer, recent SAArts projects include a 7th improv group season (Yo' Mama's Cookin',) a stage combat and movement showcase, LOVE HURTS, as well as SAArts' fall and spring 2005 PLAY READING SERIES.  Additional SAArts directing credits include, NOISES OFF (co-directed with Jenny Male,), HELLCAB, and original works developed/ written by SAArts' "Actors' Studio; Works In Progress," - (including BEYOND DICK AND JANE and CHEESY SILLY TALES). Recent SAArts design work includes SAArts productions of OUR TOWN and NOISES OFF (collaborative set design,) and HELLCAB (sound design). Recent on-stage work includes SAArts' productions of NOISES OFF, as Mrs. Clackett and THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, directed by Denise Cumor.   Susan is also co-coordinator for Rep Stage's Actors' Institute, and Acting Instructor at HCC. Kramer performed in HCC's 1st Theatre Outback production in 1992, (TALLEY'S FOLLY, as Sally,  directed by Robert Marietta,) and directed its' final production; OUR TOWN.  Susan' roots: Baltimore Community Theater.  First production directed: HARVEY; Halethorpe, Maryland's Ascension Church Youth Group; Kramer was 17.  What drives her: Collaboration in Art, folks who call SAArts "Home"... and her daughter, Emma.
 

MICHAEL WOOD (Associate Artistic Director, Resident Costume and Prop Designer) works full time as HCC's Arts and Humanities Production Office Supervisor and Prop and Wardrobe Manger/Gatekeeper. Michael enjoys being both on stage and behind the scenes. Most recent design credits include SAArts' '05 fall production of LETTERS TO S.A.N.T.A. (Set Dresser,) '04's fall production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Clown Costume & Make-Up Co-Design), Rep Stage Actors' Institute summer '04 productions of 'MIDSUMMER (prop design,) SAArts productions of BEYOND DICK AND JANE (Costume Design,) and PIPPIN (Costume & Make-Up Co-Design with Ben Masone).  Recent acting credits include Rascal the Clown in SAArts' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Slightly Soiled in PETER PAN last fall at Spotlighter's Theatre, and Schmendiman in PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE, SAArts '03 production.
 

JANELLE BRODERICK (Assistant Production Manager, Resident Stage Manager) has been working and performing with HCC's SAArts since the turn of the millennium.  Having received her Associates Degrees in Theatre Performance and Music from Howard Community College in May of 2001, Janelle transferred to UMBC, where she continues her pursuit of a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. Janelle was most recently seen on an HCC stage as Stella Kowalski in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.  Other Student~Alumni Arts credits include the role of Brooke Ashton in the British comedy NOISES OFF as well as additional roles in SAArts plays and musicals, including HELLCAB, YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, and PIPPIN.  She has also held roles such as Stage Manager, Props Designer, and Vocal Coach for various SAArts productions.  Janelle is also HCC's Coordinator of Theatre Rentals and Co-Coordinator for its Rep Stage Actors' Institute.
 

 

WILLIAM YARBROUGH III (Technical Director)  has been acting, directing, and building sets in the Baltimore area for the past 15 years.  He joined Howard Community College's technical theatre world about a year ago as Carpenter, then Master Carpenter, followed by Interim Technical Director.  Now, Bill fills the role of HCC's Arts and Humanities full-time Technical Director.  Most recently, Bill TD'd Rep Stage's production of HAMLET - currently, he's not only TD and Master Carpenter for SAArts' production of OUR TOWN, he is also collaborating with Sue Kramer on Set Design.  SAARTS IS THRILLED TO HAVE BILL ON BOARD!
 

ERIC MOORE (Master Electrician) is currently resident Master Electrician for HCC's SAArts as well as for its professional theatre in residence, Rep Stage.  Current light design work includes SAArts' production of OUR TOWN.  Most recent M.E. work includes SAArts productions such as LETTERS TO S.A.N.T.A., A CHRISTMAS CAROL, NOISES OFF and Rep Stage's production of THE SEAGULL and VITA AND VIRGINIA. Eric has also worked as an electrician at several other theatres including Toby's Dinner Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, and Rep Stage. 
 

     SAARTS GUEST DESIGNERS IN RESIDENCE . . .



JENNY MALE (Resident Dialect and Movement Coach) is currently HCC's Director of Dance and Movement, as well as HCC's Student-Alumni Arts resident vocal and movement coach.  Teaching credits at HCC include Basic Acting I, Voice & Diction, Dialects for the Actor, Movement for the Actor, and Improv I.  She has also taught Teen and Pre-Teen Acting Workshops for Rep Stage Actors' Institute.  Jenny directed and choreographed SAArts' Anti-Valentine's Day Stage Combat & Movement Show LOVE HURTS, which was performed in HCC's Smith Theatre in February, 2006.  Other recent directing credits include Rep Stage Actors' Institute's Teen productions of  PETER PAN and THE HOBBIT, as well as co-directing SAArts' Improv Group, YO' MAMA'S COOKIN', for a third season.  Additional past credits at HCC include SAArts' productions of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE as Violence and Dialect Coach, A CHRISTMAS CAROL as Director and Choreographer, and NOISES OFF as Co-Director, Movement Director, Dialect Coach, and Stage Manager.  In 2002, she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy with an emphasis in Movement & Choreography (4.0 GPA). Jenny's fight and dance choreography credits include TWELFTH NIGHT, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, NIGHT SKY, CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY, ANYTHING GOES, BETTY'S SUMMER VACATION, OKLAHOMA!, THE DAY THE BRONX DIED, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, THE BACCHAE (off-off-Broadway), and ROMEO AND JULIET. She is also very proud to serve as the Fight Director and Dance Choreographer for the historical outdoor drama, TECUMSEH, in Ohio.


ANDREW M. HAAG, JR.
(Light Design) was the Lighting Designer for SAArts productions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, NOISES OFF and YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN.  Andrew holds a BA from Towson University in Theatre Lighting Design. He is currently the Electric's Coordinator at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland and is also the full time Electrician at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore. 

 

AARON BRODERICK (Musical Direction) a Howard Community College Alumnus, is a graduate of Towson University, who majored in Music Education.  Past SAArts projects worked on as Musical Director includes A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, OF MICE AND MEN, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and PIPPIN.   Recent SAArts Sound Design credits include PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE, NOISES OFF, as well as HCC's Rep Stage production of T-BONE AND WEASEL and FOOL FOR LOVE.  Aaron has worked in the area sound designing, music directing and playing keyboards for many area theatres including Toby's Dinner Theatre, Adventure Theatre, Rockville Musical Theatre, and Troika Touring Company.  He currently enjoys a teaching career in music within Montgomery County's School System.
